Keith Haring

Keith Haring (1958–1990) was an American pop artist and activist whose bold, colorful style grew out of New York City’s 1980s graffiti scene. Famous for energetic lines and recurring images like the barking dog and radiant baby, he used his art to spotlight social and political causes, including the AIDS crisis, Apartheid, drug awareness, and LGBTQ representation.

Pieces by Keith Haring in the permanent collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields include Untitled (1983), Bubble Dress (1988), and Tuxedo (1988).
