Charmaine Pwerle, born in 1975, is an Indigenous artist with roots in Utopia. She is the daughter of Barbara Weir and the granddaughter of the late Minnie Pwerle. Charmaine's childhood was spent in Utopia before she left for Adelaide and Alice Springs for education. Upon her return to her country, she learned her people's culture, including performing in ceremonies and learning sacred stories passed down by her mother and grandmother. Her artworks reflect these dreamings, that she paints in her own distinct style. Charmaine currently resides in Alice Springs with her children.
