About the Artist:
Murdie Nampijinpa Morris was born in the 1930s at Rabbit Flat in the Tanami Desert, Northern Territory. A senior custodian of her Country, she grew up living a traditional lifestyle and learning cultural knowledge around the Nyirripi area. After moving to Yuendumu in the early 1980s, she worked at the Old People’s Home before beginning her artistic journey in 2012 with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation. Murdie paints her father’s Dreamings—Maliki Jukurrpa (Domestic Dog Dreaming) and Malikijarra Jukurrpa (Two Dog Dreaming)—stories deeply connected to her ancestral Country. Known for her vibrant, expressive style and distinctive pastel palette, her work offers a powerful contemporary interpretation of Warlpiri culture and has gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
