In one letter to Vincent, the artist's brother Theo commented that Irises was "A beautiful study full of air and life." Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890) had begun painting irises within his first week of his voluntary stay at the asylum at Saint-Rémy. Each flower is unique as he carefully studied them, creating various curved silhouettes bounded by wavy, twisting, and curling lines. These earring feature van Gogh's 1889 Irises on a giclée print set in solid brass, electro-plated with non-tarnishing silver finish. The ear wires are hypo-allergenic. This pair of earrings comes gift boxed with a provenance card.
